Johannesburg — AmaZulu slippery winger Ovidy Karuru has been tipped to make a quick return to action from injury.

The Zimbabwean was forced out of the 4-1 loss to KwaZulu-Natal neighbours Golden Arrows with a joint problem on Sunday, but is on the mend according to Usuthu physiotherapist Karel du Toit.

Du Toit also revealed 22-year-old centre-back Sibongiseni “Fani Fani” Mthembu is pushing for competitive action following a 10-month spell on the sidelines with a fractured ankle.

“Fani Fani had a tibial shaft fracture, undisplaced fracture which was treated surgically,” Du Toit explained on the club’s website.

“He’s done very well, he’s rehabed very strongly, he showed a lot of commitment, hard work and it’s paying off for him. “He’s returning very well and he’s showing good signs on the field and I’d say he’s almost 90 percent ready for full competition.”
