A last minute gasp winner by substitute Silas Chiota ensured that Shooting Stars collected maximum points against Gunners after a 1-0 win in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match played at Sakubva Stadium yesterday.

The solitary strike by the wild boys forward separated the two sides who both missed a glut of chances during the match.

The Wild Boys who were smarting from an away 1-0 loss to Shabanie at the weekend and had stand-in coach Tonderai Marume who replaced Patson Ndabambi who was relieved of his duties on Monday, failed to come up with meaningful attacks until the last minute which eventually paid dividends.

Gunners defenders failed to clear a throw-in from Levison Banda into their box which resulted in Chiota scrambling the ball home to send the few team faithfuls into celebrations.

Said Marime after the match: “The team did not lose hope as they were rewarded with a last-minute winner and I am very happy with the win. We are promising our fans that we are going to come up with something against Zimbabwe Saints in Bulawayo at the weekend,” he said.
