Inline Academy lost their first match of the season when they suffered a 3-1 defeat to city rivals New Orleans in a Zimbabwe Women’s Football Super league derby at Barham Green Sports Club on Saturday.

Inline broke the deadlock through a goal by Judith Lunga in the first half before New Orleans equalised through Ntombiyelanga Ndlovu early in the second half.

New Orleans then sealed maximum points after further goals by Sicelo Dube and Nobukhosi Ncube.

The New Orleans’ coach Nomsa “Boys” Moyo said she was pleased with her team’s performance but cautioned that it was too early to start thinking about winning the championship. New Orleans are fourth on the log-standings tied with Mufakose Queens on 22 points.

“We won the match because of team spirit. My substitutions also helped the team as we got the third goal. It is however too early for us to talk about winning the championship,” said the former Mighty Warriors captain.
