The Southern Region Basketball League executive has said teams which owe them affiliation and team registration fees should pay before the resumption of the second half of the season on January 13 or risk expulsion from the league if they do not pay within two weeks.

League secretary Joe Mujuru confirmed they would not fixture teams owing them affiliation when the season starts.

“We have decided that no team will be allowed to play if they have any outstanding amounts on affiliation and team registration fees. We are avoiding a situation where we end up having a backlog so we will only give them a grace period of two weeks. We want to put our foot down now.

“We agreed in our last meeting that any teams that fail to pay up should be expelled until next year,” he said.

He could not be drawn to reveal the teams that owe the association money.
