Favourites Harare Sports Club and Matabeleland Warriors maintained their unbeaten records with comfortable wins in week four of the Lion Lager National Rugby League on Saturday.

Matabeleland Warriors recorded their third consecutive victory after beating Old Hararians 27-12 in the main match at Hartsfield Ground in Bulawayo to maintain second place on the eight-team log with a game in hand.

This was Old Hararians second defeat on the trot following their 24-19 defeat at the hands of bitter rivals Harare Sports Club two weeks ago.

Harare Sports Club also maintained both their unbeaten record and top spot on the log after a bonus-point 62-7 win over league returnees Gweru Sports Club in the Midlands town.

The two teams recent form sets up a potentially explosive encounter when Matabeleland Warriors and Harare Sports Club collide in a top-of-the-table clash in the capital this weekend.

In other matches played on the same day, Old Miltonians recorded their first win of the season after beating fellow strugglers Airforce 29-3 in an earlier match at Hartsfield while defending champions Red Seal Old Georgians thumped Western Panthers 52-6 at the same venue.

Meanwhile, Zimbabwe international forward, Denford Mutamangira scored a try for his side Ayr, but it was not enough as his side lost 24-10 to local rivals, Gala, in a nervy RBS National Scottish Cup final at Murrayfield Stadium on Saturday.

Mutamangira powered over the whitewash just before halftime as the two teams went to the break deadlocked 10-10 before Gala come back from the second half a more determined side with 14 unanswered points.

A winners medal in his debut season would have been a well-deserved accolade for the 27 year-old former Harare Sports Club prop who has been a revelation at AYR since joining the top Scottish club in February.
