The Mighty Warriors will early next month travel to Tanzania for an international friendly match, as the team gears up for a tough Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Nigeria.

Zimbabwe hosts the Super Falcons in Harare on the weekend of May 25-27 before travelling to Nigeria for the reverse fixture.

There were reports in the South African media yesterday that the Rosemary Mugadza-coached team would play South Africa in a friendly match in Harare on May 12, but women football boss Mavis Gumbo said the team will be actually in Tanzania on that date.

“We are yet to finalise all the details, but we should be going to Tanzania on that weekend. South Africa had also invited us, but we are already booked on that date. They have a good team, but I think Tanzania are also equally good and can give us good preparations for our match against Nigeria. The girls are already in camp preparing for the match. They will not break camp until the reverse fixture,” said Gumbo.

The Mighty Warriors have started preparing for the Nigeria tie and last Saturday hosted neighbours Zambia at the Colliery Stadium in Hwange. Zimbabwe won the match 3-1 courtesy of a brace by Tsitsi Mairosi and a Rutendo Makore strike.
