BLOEMFONTEIN — FC Platinum star Joel Mogorosi joined South Africa Absa Premiership side Bloemfontein Celtic on Saturday, without kicking a ball for the Zimbabwe side.
And for that, Platinum are P600 000 richer after having forked out P400 000 for the Zebras star from his be Mobile teamMochudi Centre Chiefs. Chiefs have, according to some reports, agreed a P3 million deal with Celtic for the player and in turn paid Platinum P1 million.
Mogorosi has signed a three-year deal with Celtic, but the transfer had been kept under wraps. According to those in the know, the Botswana international penned the deal a week ago.
“Joel signed last week Friday and he is coming from Botswana today (Saturday). He is going to join Celtic today (Saturday) in camp and will play the friendly with Golden Arrows tomorrow (yesterday),” the source revealed.
Celtic and Arrows were due to play a friendly yesterday in Pretoria as Siwelele continued their pre-season preparations in Gauteng. According to a Chiefs source: “We ended up agreeing that we (Chiefs) sell the player and give them P1 million. I think the most important thing is that the boy goes where he thinks he would be most happy. It would have been difficult for him in Zimbabwe after FC Platinum fired Rahman (Gumbo).”
Celtic coach Clinton Larsen is excited about his new acquisition and believes the Botswana international will add value to his squad. Platinum secretary, Philimon Muwengwa, confirmed the agreement between his club and Chiefs. — Kick Off/Mmegi
