DYNAMOS . . . . . . . . . . . (0)
SCOTTLAND FC . . . . . . .(2) 5
IN a display of footballing dominance, league champions Scottland FC thrashed Chibuku Super Cup winners Dynamos 5-0 at Rufaro Stadium, claiming the Castle Challenge Cup.
Two first-half goals from Emmanuel Ziocha and Tymon Machope, capped by strikes from Walter Musona, Knowledge Musona, and Khama Billiat, secured the silverware and sent a warning to the rest of the premiership.
The usually cagey season opener turned into a tactical masterclass by Norman Mapeza’s men, showcasing a clinical, star-studded frontline against a DeMbare side that eventually crumbled under relentless pressure.
The gulf in class was evident from the onset. Captain Walter Musona missed a glaring opportunity early on, blazing over with only Harmony Nare to beat, followed by Machope being denied by a brilliant Nare save.

However, the deadlock was finally broken in the 18th minute. Ziocha proved the quickest to react in a goalmouth melee, poking the ball home after Dynamos failed to deal with a fizzing Knowledge Musona free-kick.
Dynamos showed flashes of defiance; Witness Shave rattled the crossbar with a stinging volley, and Elton Njini had a goal chalked off for offside.
Yet, Scottland remained deadlier.
After hitting the upright earlier, Machope finally found his mark on the stroke of halftime, doubling the lead and leaving the Glamour Boys with a mountain to climb.
The second period saw Scottland shift from high-octane pressure to surgical precision. Walter Musona made amends for his earlier miss halfway through the half, blasting a low drive from an acute angle to make it three.
Then came the moment the fans had waited for: the "Smiling Assassin," Knowledge Musona, reminded the league of his enduring class, picking his spot from outside the box to make it 4-0 in the 76th minute.
Dynamos’ misery was compounded late on when substitute Collin Mujuru saw red for a second bookable offence.
With the man advantage, Scottland added a fifth in the dying embers, as Billiat elegantly dinked the ball over a stranded Nare after a defence-splitting pass from Nathan Mutasa.
A beaming Mapeza couldn’t hide his delight after the final whistle, though he stayed respectful of his opponents.
"It was a good game. I don’t want to take anything from Dynamos — they played very well," he said.
"I am more than happy with our performance. We created opportunities, which shows that our hard work over the past eight weeks is paying off. But I think we should give all credit to the boys."
Mapeza emphasised that his team is only just getting started.
"Morale-wise, this is a huge boost as we now prepare to face Hard Rock. Our transition from defence to attack was very quick, and we looked well organised. I’m more than happy with what the boys did."
For their afternoon of brilliance, Scottland walked away with US$30 000 and the first piece of silverware for the 2026 season. Dynamos, meanwhile, took home US$20 000 as runners-up, left to return to the drawing board after a humbling afternoon. The win sets a frightening tone for the league — if this star-studded Scottland side can deliver this level of 'heavy metal' football consistently, their title defence could turn into a procession.
