LEAGUE debutants Southern Mavericks and Highlanders clash in what is expected to be a thrilling encounter,  as the Bulawayo Basketball Association League action resumes  at Bulawayo Club for the Disabled (BCD) tomorrow night.

Report by Sports Reporter Highlanders, last season’s runners-up, have started the league on a good note winning all their games.

  Southern Mavericks are a new team in the league, but have also had a good start after roping in experienced players like Garikai Gumbo, Garth Hussey, Kudzai Murisi and Kevin Mayingire from Kings and were joined by Mthokozisi Sithole, William Muchuchuti as well Crayton and Elton Moyo.

  Highlanders have in their books Derrick Chiradza and Michael Zvoushe, who can be a threat to Southern Mavericks.

  In another game set for tomorrow at BCD, Kings face Oilers. Oilers will be hoping to collect maximum points after losing 58-52 last Saturday while Kings thumped Milton High School Developmental side 118-23.

  Harold Machiya was on fire on for Kings and scored 29 points in the game. On Saturday, Milton still in search of their first victory in the league, will  face Midlands State University (MSU).

  Milton lost 78-30 to ZB Titans in their first league match at BCD before losing 84-11 to defending champions Unicorns at Chaplin High School in Gweru. Later on Saturday, MSU return to action to face ALCC at BCD.

  Three games are lined up in the women’s section, with MSU facing Hawks. Highlanders who have impressive  Pretty Tinarwo, take on Stars at BCD on Saturday.

  Another game on  the cards in the women’ s section pits defending champions Giants and Lakers.
