ARMY side Black Rhinos are well poised to win the Northern Region Division One football championship after opening a 12-point lead at the top of the league table following a 2-1 defeat of Blue Jets in a league match on Saturday.

With closest rivals Power Masters falling 1-0 to ZPC in another fixture, it opened a good opportunity for Nesbert Saruchera’s men to extend their lead at the summit.
Veteran midfielder Lazarus Muhoni and Clarence Zimbawo scored a goal each to help the former Premiership side collect maximum points and march towards championship glory.
It was Muhoni’s 14th goal of the campaign.
Black Rhinos have now registered 18 wins from 26 matches in the campaign.
