ANGOLA have lined up the Warriors for a football friendly as they seek to put together three hastily-arranged friendlies for their African Nations Cup finals campaign next month in South Africa.

The international friendly could be the first for new Warriors coach Klaus Dieter Pagels as he seeks to assemble a new-look Warriors squad following the dissolution of the team.

Gustavou Ferrin’s men overturned a 3-1 deficit from the first leg in Harare when they overcame the Warriors 2-0 in Luanda in October to join the party at the continental football showcase on the away goals rule.

The Angolan Football Federation says they are negotiating with Namibia, Zimbabwe and Algeria to play games in Lubango on December 16, 19 and 22 respectively.

The matches will all be played at the altitude training camp that Angola are hosting in the south of the country.

The camp for locally-based players, plus the Brazilian-based Geraldo, starts today under Ferrin.

However, Zifa chief executive Jonathan Mashingaidze said they were still to receive official correspondence on the possibility of the friendly.

“We have not yet received official correspondence with regard to that, but we are aware most teams preparing for the African Cup of Nations finals in South Africa will be looking for friendlies and it will be decided at the weekend when we go for the strategic retreat. All those issues will be discussed there,” said Mashingaidze.

Pagels also said he was not aware of the friendly match and would hear from Zifa.

“I don’t know about the friendly match. I don’t know what Zifa are planning and will hear from them,” he said.

Angola have also set up another Nations Cup warm-up game against Nigeria in Portugal in early January when they head to Faro for a second training camp, this time with all their foreign-based professionals.
