MONTREAL — Fernando Alonso on Thursday warned Sebastian Vettel that his run of good luck will come to an end sooner or later.

Two-time champion Spaniard Alonso of Ferrari told reporters in the paddock at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve ahead of this weekend’s Canadian Grand Prix that the Red Bull man had been lucky this season, but that will change.
Alonso said: “We have two points more now than last year and we were leading the championship last year at this time. So in a way, we are doing better than last year.
“But, what is a little bit out at the moment are the points that Sebastian has scored in these six races. Unlucky races will come to everyone and will come to him as well. It came to Kimi [Raikkonen] in Monaco with the accident and we are only five points behind him.
“So, it will come to Sebastian and we need to maximise.” After six races, including two in Europe, Alonso is 29 points adrift of the defending triple champion and current series leader.

But he is convinced he can close the gap and pointed to various incidents to show how lucky the young German has been.
He referred to Vettel surviving a brush with Briton Lewis Hamilton’s Mercedes at the start of the Spanish GP as an example of how fortune has been on the Red Bull driver’s side.
