DYNAMOS are still insisting their Sunday’s Caf Champions League match against Botswana’s Mochudi Centre Chiefs would be staged at the National Sports Stadium despite the water problems currently experienced at the facility.

The stadium has gone for two weeks now without running water due to a burst pipe, crippling all operations.
With the maintenance team seemingly failing to fix the pipe, reports had suggested that Dynamos would move the match back to Rufaro Stadium.
The Harare giants dumped the Mbare stadium, which had become their home ground until this year, due to “the exorbitant levies” that are being charged by the city of Harare and the poor state of the artificial turf.
The National Sports Stadium is owned by the government under the Ministry of Public Works.

Team manager Richard Chihoro said they are still hopeful that the problems at the NSS would have been solved by the time they host their visitors in the preliminary round first leg match of Africa’s premier club competition.
“The match will be played at the National Sports Stadium. We have already booked the venue for the match,” said Chihoro yesterday.
“We have not made any provisions for Rufaro because we know the match would be played at the National Sports Stadium,” he added.
The groundsmen have been working on the stadium turf this week and while their work has been made easy by the pounding rains with the grass looking in perfect condition, the same cannot be said about the ablution facilities.
If the problem persists, Dynamos would be left with no choice, but to move the match to Rufaro Stadium. Gwanzura Stadium, which they have been using for their friendly matches, could be another option.
