Although the battle is a mere friendly match, it will obviously give football fans in the Lowveld a hint of the upcoming derby matches and the team that will emerge as winners will likely carry a psychological advantage over their opponents ahead of the 2014 season.
The tension is already there between the two teams after Chiredzi coach Moses Chunga told this publication recently that some former Hippo Valley executive members were working tirelessly to destabilise his team by encouraging his top players to join Triangle.
In an interview with NewsDay Sport yesterday, Chunga said he was looking forward to the derby, but that it was like any other match.
“We are going to play against Triangle on Saturday at Chishamiso.

Yes, it’s a derby, so we expect football fans in Chiredzi to come in their numbers to witness the match. This is a pre-season match and we are still assessing some players before we can finalise our final squad,” he said.
It will be Triangle head coach Biggie Zuze’s first match since taking over from Gishon Ntini.
