VETERAN striker Artwell Nyamiwa is the player of the week after he rose from the bench to help his side ZPC Kariba to a 1-0 victory over troubled Harare City at Gwanzura on Saturday.

Nyamiwa, who last week broke Dynamos fans’ hearts with that last-gasp goal at the National Sports Stadium, was at it again on Sunday when he headed home a cross from Moses Mukanje with 10 minutes remaining in the match. The dreadlocked Nyamiwa’s goals in the last two rounds of fixtures have seen ZPC Kariba collecting all six points to take their season tally so far to seven points and joint top of the log together with Highlanders and Hwange.

Nyamiwa is being used as a super substitute by team coach Saul Chaminuka, who joined the Kariba-based outfit from Harare giants Caps United.

Chaminuka says the former Lengthens striker usually makes impact when coming off as a substitute.

“I have known the player for quite some time. I know his strengths and weaknesses. He is one player who will make full impact when he comes into the match later. I am happy with the way we have started. The players are showing a lot of discipline,” said Chaminuka.

ZPC Kariba have now beaten giants Dynamos and Harare City in their first season in the premiership.

They have won two matches and drawn once and are sitting comfortably on third position with seven points behind leaders Highlanders and Hwange who also have the same number of points.

“When I look at the three games, we have players showing discipline and I think the team is where it is supposed to be,” Chaminuka said.
