BUFFALOES dropped two points at home as Luke Masomere failed to complete a double over his former side Shabanie Mine in a Castle Lager Premiership match played at Sakubva Stadium yesterday.

It was the visitors who drew first blood in the 1st minute through a Blessing Mwandimutsira own goal, but Buffaloes fought hard in the second half to bring to level matters through Jeffrey Takunda before Shabanie reclaimed the lead again through veteran defender Zvenyika Makonese’s header.

Buffaloes later replied again to through captain Jacob Muzokomba to avoid a home defeat.

Masomere said he was not happy with the way his team played, adding that his players might have been affected by pressure of collecting points at home, while his counterpart John Phiri said he was satisfied by the game though he needs to beef up his squad.

After Shabanie had gone into the breather leading 1-0, they seemed to take the foot off the pedal and were punished in the 70th minute when Takunda connected a cross from Muzokomba and unleashed a powerful short that hit the nets.

Six minutes later, Makonese took advantage of some defensive problems on the Buffaloes side and scored through a free header before Muzokomba ensured a share of the spoils connecting a corner kick, capitalising on a goal mouth melee to level matters three minutes from time.
