CASTLE Lager Premier Soccer League side Buffaloes have accused nomadic gaffer Moses Chunga of lacking professionalism after resigning as the side’s head coach last week without notifying the club.

Chunga, who joined the army side last year replacing Luke Masomere, quit the soldiers citing the club’s executive incompetence.

It has since emerged that also the maverick gaffer was not happy after the army side failed to meet his $7-a-meal demand.

But the way Bambo resigned left a lot to be desired after he conveyed his message to the team captain Jacob Muzokomba to tell his teammates.

In an interview with NewsDay Sport, Buffaloes chairman Hlanganiso Matangaidze said he was not aware that Chunga had resigned.

“I don’t think he resigned because he has not come to me with such news. We are just assuming that he is away and when the head coach is away, we have mechanisms that we use,” Matangaidze said.

“So his assistants will be in charge of the team. But if it’s true, he should use proper channels because we can’t take a discussion between a player and a coach.

“But when a person walks away without notifying the people who employed him, how do you judge that person?” Matangaidze asked. Another side’s executive who refused to be named took a dig at Chunga, saying that the coach was not professional.

“I think the way Chunga resigned lacks professionalism. After all we are not sure if he resigned because he is yet to come to us over the matter,” he said.

The controversial coach has not yet contacted the army side leaders over his decision, particularly the chairman Matangaidze who was forking out $1 500 from his personal coffers to pay the gaffer’s salary.

But Chunga’s salary was reportedly reviewed downwards to $1 000 as the side is facing serious financial challenges. Chunga was not available for comment.

Currently, Joseph Takaringofa is the caretaker coach and is being assisted by Peter Masibhera.

The army side will start the 2015 season with a date against Dynamos next weekend in the capital.
