THE Matabeleland Under-19 rugby development side won the David Livingstone Memorial Trophy rugby tournament in Livingstone Kolobeng College (LKC), Botswana over the weekend after beating all the seven schools that took part.

The team walked away with the David Livingstone Trophy and some medals for winning the tournament.
The host schools LKC came second while Maru la Pula was in third position.
Matabeleland Under-19 beat Maru la Pula 12-0 in their first game before thrashing League Academy 31-0.
They were on fire in the third match, walloping Rainbow 35-0 and LKC 17-12. In the semi-finals they cruised past LKC II 35-0 before beating LKC I 27-0 in the final.

Matabeleland Rugby Football Board development officer Ruben Kumpasa paid tribute to the team saying they deserved to win.
“I am very excited because it shows that what we are trying to do in developing the sport (rugby) has noticeable results. The guys played very well they dominated from the beginning to the end and they deserved the win,” said Kumpasa.
