The late Brigadier-General Emilio Munemo has been declared a national hero.

Delivering the message to the family at their residents in Hatfield, Harare yesterday, Vice-President Kembo Mohadi said members of the Zanu PF politburo unanimously agreed on Munemo’s hero status as they testified on his contribution to the country both before and after independence.

Mohadi said burial arrangements will be announced after consultation with the family.

Munemo (64), who was the director-general (civil military relations) at the Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF) headquarters, died on Sunday after being ill for some time.

A veteran of the liberation struggle, Munemo was instrumental in the establishment of the ZDF civil military relations department.
