NEW kid on the block, afro-jazz musician Michael Tawanda Mukoko — popularly known as SaMukoko in music circles — is set to launch his second album on April 30 at Eastpoint in Harare.
The 30-year-old musician who fronts the Caritate Band said the new six-track album, Keeper Nemukati, was filled with love songs and social commentary.
The songs on the new album include Uchi Nemukaka, Basa Rangu, Donhodzo, Ndichauya Ndega and Ndakaka.
SaMukoko told NewsDay Life & Style that some of the themes on the album were inspired by his own life experiences.
“Mostly on my new album, I sang about personal experiences. As a musician, I also take the role of a teacher and a mouthpiece of the voiceless. On this new album, Keeper Nemukati, I touched on the problems which affect or that people face in their day-to-day lives,” he said.

The Tichasvika Chete hitmaker left Gweru two years ago in search of a big break in music and settled in the dormitory town of Chitungwiza.
“I left Gweru about two years for the betterment of my music as I needed to be closer to the capital city where I have a bigger fan base,” he said.
The album launch is expected to be graced by Leonard Zhakata of Zora Music who will be the guest of honour, while Gary Tight and Pauline Gundidza will be the supporting acts.
