VICTORIA FALLS-BASED teen model Britney-Yvette Chiyoko is in cloud nine as she prepares for her participation at the prestigious Miss World’s Perfect Model scheduled for July 26 to August 1 at the Sheraton Lake Buena Vista Resort in Orlando, the United States.
The 19-year-old rising model, signed under City Favourite Models Agency, told NewsDay Life & Style yesterday that she was honoured to represent the nation at a global ramp.
“I am very nervous and excited at the same time, as it is my first international pageant after I successfully made it from virtual auditions, where contestants had to send their videos,” she said.
“I am going to experience something new and associate with models from different countries. I thank Dr Paul Shambare for helping me. All I will do is get there with my A game and hope for the best. I don’t only want to win, but to pave a path for me in this modelling journey.”
Apart from being on the ramp herself, Chiyoko runs her own pageant, Miss Leap Year 2020.

“My aim is to help identify potential models with the long-term goal being of promoting modelling in our province of Matabeleland North, facilitate their grooming as well as inspire peers to believe in themselves with a determination to be successful in life,” she said.
“Also, I seek to promote advocacy among young children so as to minimise early pregnancies, early child marriages and school drop-outs. We are in a generation that has a low self-esteem and, therefore, we look forward to revitalising the lost hope and crushed dreams.
“Despite all the bad comments I got in all this effort, they did not pull me down, instead I turned the negativity into positivity.”
