IN a script that surprised and shocked many, gospel artiste Margret Mwamuka, popularly known as Mai Mwamuka in the music industry, emerged the winner of a stand at the fifth edition of the Roil Bulawayo Arts Awards held at Large City Hall in Bulawayo on Saturday.

Mai Mwamuka scooped the People’s Choice Award and the Outstanding Gospel Artiste gong.

The People’s Choice Award, which was up for public vote, came with a fully-serviced residential stand in Cowdray Park.

Awards organisers revealed that preparations for the construction of the structure were 30%.

“I started recording music at the age of 50, after people at church told me that when I sing, something happens to them. My voice is not that great and I thought if I start recording, who will buy my music,” she said as she accepted the award.
