Chamisa made the proposal in the National Assembly when Deputy Minister of Public Affairs Tapiwanashe Matangaidze was being quizzed by Mkoba MP Amos Chibaya (MDC-T) on why government was struggling to pay civil servants. Matangaidze said government had since improved in payment of salaries.

Chamisa then suggested as a way of reducing expenditure, government should consider cutting benefits for top government officials.

Matangaidze said he would take up Chamisa’s suggestion.
