The MDC-T has petitioned the Joint Monitoring and Implementation Committee (Jomic) over the alleged seizure of livestock, money and household goods belonging to its supporters in Chimanimani by suspected Zanu PF activists in the area.
MDC-T Manicaland provincial spokesperson Pishai Muchauraya alleged Zanu PF supporters stole money, property and livestock from MDC-T supporters in Chimanimani after forcing them to flee their homes.
On Tuesday, Jomic spokesperson Joram Nyathi confirmed receipt of the petition.
“We received the letter and we want to go there (Chimanimani) to find out what’s really happening,” said Nyathi.
Muchauraya, who is MDC-T MP for Makoni South, said those who fled their homes included Moses Chemwanyisa, Admire Chizikani, his family and their 77-year-old mother.
They reportedly fled by night and walked approximately 40km after a group of suspected Zanu PF supporters besieged their home and drove them away.

Muchauraya said the victims lost $60 cash, 13 goats, 15 chickens, eight turkeys, two cellphone handsets, clothes, electrical goods and other household property.
“The victims were appealing for law enforcers and other responsible authorities to call for an urgent meeting that will address both parties with regards to freedom to join and participate in any political party of their choice,” said Muchauraya in his letter.
Muchauraya also said in his letter: “The victims feel there should be an intensive awareness campaign for all the supporters, especially Zanu PF, on the legality and genuineness of the MDC, not only as a political party, but as an equal partner in the GNU as agreed in the GPA.”
