MDC-T senators yesterday lambasted traditional chiefs in the Senate accusing them of showing partisan behaviour by teaming up with Zanu PF to shoot down the resuscitation of a motion on amendments to the Public Order and Security Act (Posa).

MDC-T chief whip in the House of Assembly, Innocent Gonese, intended to have amendments to Posa debated in the Senate.
But when Gonese moved that the motion be resuscitated in the Senate Order Paper, Zanu PF senators refused, prompting a vote in the divided Senate. The MDC-T senators polled 16 votes while Zanu PF got 28 votes after the 15 chiefs in the House voted with Zanu PF.
Zaka senator Misheck Marava (MDC-T) said the move by the chiefs was embarrassing as they behaved in a partisan manner.
“The 15 chiefs clearly showed they were not neutral and independent,” Marava said.
