PRESIDENT Robert Mugabe has declared Wednesday July 31 as a public holiday to facilitate the participation of Zimbabweans in the harmonised elections taking place that day.

The holiday declaration in an Extraordinary Government Gazette published yesterday read: “His Excellency the President, in terms of section 2 (2) of the Public Holidays and Prohibition of Business Act (Chapter 10:21), hereby makes the following notice that . . . It is hereby declared that Wednesday the 31st July 2013 shall be a public holiday.”
