MDC-T has alleged receiving information that election results are set to be handed over to security chiefs in the Joint Operation Command before they are released, triggering fears of a repeat of the 2008 harmonised polls when results were not released for a month.

“From what we have gathered, the results would be handed over to JOC first before they are announced. We will obviously resist this as it is not their (JOC’s) mandate to do so,” said party spokesperson Douglas Mwonzora, addressing a press conference in Harare today.

Mwonzora revealed a litany of more allegations which include frustrating voters in MDC-T’s strongholds by slowing down the voting process tomorrow.

He added that Zanu PF was commandeering traditional leaders to hold meetings with their subjects and instruct them to vote for the party. Mwonzora alleges that the Central Intelligence Organisation operatives were responsible for selecting polling officers.
