The second half of the year has just begun.

Devotion with Erasmus Makarimayi

This gives you opportunity to review the first half so that you can maintain or increase the tempo.

In some instances, you need to refocus and reroute. It is a window that you can use to regurgitate. If you have been on a road that leads nowhere, simply change the lane.

However, if the road is promising, put more effort and apply yourself with more vigour. In some instances, further research, study and consultation will help you.

This is the time to be honest with yourself and make a sincere assessment.

Check your instincts and reconnoitre the future. Ride on the wave of success of the first half and don’t repeat the mistakes. In all this, whatever your deductions are, don’t be intimidated, but be re-energised. Some of you use themes to go by your years and work on your targets based on your themes.

One of the challenges with introspection is that what you find out may scare you forcing you to throw in the towel and leave your life to fate. A noble exercise can cause unwanted results.

Remain hopeful and steadfast till the end. My thoughts at the beginning of the year were that this year was going to be a year of rescue.

I have received so much feedback from readers who have seen it come to pass.

If you want to join in now, you still can and in case you haven’t been rescued yet, you need to stay awake and expectant. God is still able to rescue your health, finances, marriage, business even your country.

Don’t give your final conclusion of a year based on happenings of half a year.

A look at comments on the performance of African teams at World Cup stage in Brazil point their failure to progress to among other things, failure to concentrate for the whole game and indiscipline.

Some of the teams lost the match in the last minute of the game. Just one slip in concentration cancels all the other time you have been concentrating. This is the reality of life. As the year progresses, remain steadfast you can still make it. All you need is to avoid slumbering on your determination.

Your breakthrough can come any time. Your preparedness and focus will help you not to miss it.

The Bible teaches us to be always alert. In concluding the parable of the 10 virgins, Jesus says in Matthew 25:13: “Watch, therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.”

Although this was in reference to second coming of Christ, the principle of life is constant watchfulness.

As a Christian, your call to remain watchful is even more apparent. Oftentimes we are not watchful and permit the enemy to take an advantage over us.

Jesus teaches in Mark 14:38: “Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak.”

We may sleep, but Satan does not. Never was he detected napping yet. There is slothfulness among believers, but there is no slothfulness on the part of their adversary.

He ever watches, going about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Though you should leave off watchfulness he never will. Never allow your heart depart from your goal. Discipline your faculties to remain awake and concentrate always as the match of your life is going on.

The year has not ended yet. The game is still on. Just one moment of brilliance can change the trajectory of your life. God is so powerful that He can do for, through and with you something that would have naturally required a lifetime.

Put not your hope aside. Remain pregnant with expectation. In a tinkle of an eye you can make it. Don’t write yourself off yet. Dig deeper into the reserve.

You have already trusted God for so long and you cannot give up on Him now.

You are always nearer than you first believed. Remain disciplined and don’t lose concentration. You are going somewhere.
