Thirty-six-year-OLD Vengai Chinyama from Mutoko, who almost had his entire family wiped out in last year’s horrific Harare-Nyamapanda Highway accident which claimed 26 lives, has appealed to Prophetic Healing and Deliverances (PHD) Ministries leader Walter Magaya for spiritual and financial help to enable him to fend for his only surviving child, three-year-old Tawananyasha.

“I am desperate. My three-year-old child is living like a destitute and I cannot provide for him under the circumstances,” he said.

In an interview with NewsDay, Chinyama said he was even prepared to work for the PHD Ministries leader in whatever capacity.

“People have advised me to try him as he has helped many others. I will do anything for my child,” he said brokenly.

Currently, the three-year-old boy, who survived the horrific accident which occurred as a result of a side-swipe between a Harare-bound Unifreight bus and a Mutoko-bound Zupco along the Harare-Nyamapanda Highway, was living with Chinyama’s aunt who is in her late seventies.

“She is now too old for such a demanding job, but who do I trust my son with while I am job-hunting?” he queried.

Chinyama grabbed the headlines and the hearts of many when he lost his wife Nyaradzo Chihowa and three children, Tafadzwa (12) and twins Tanaka and Tashinga.

His only solace now lies with his son Tawananyasha, but he has no means to feed, clothe or even send him to school when he is of age.

At the moment, the community of Chisambiro village in Mutoko is taking turns to ensure Tawananyasha has food.

Besides dealing with the bread and butter issues, Chinyama has also had to contend with his in-laws who are demanding that he gives them three beasts as payment for outstanding lobola.

“My wife’s grave collapsed and when I asked my in-laws to help fix it, they demanded three beasts which I have managed to secure, but now I don’t have money for the ceremony,” he said.

Still tormented by the accident, Chinyama has no clue how he will resolve his complications, but he is hopeful the answer lies with Magaya.
