Munyaradzi Hapazari, of Muhove village, under Chief Chihota in Marondera West, was convicted of assaulting fellow party members Simbarashe Musoni and Richard Mavhunga.

According to court papers, on December 20 last year, Musoni went to Mahusekwa Rural District Council offices in the company of the party’s provincial deputy secretary for indigenisation, Richard Mavhunga to distribute rice, cooking oil and maize seed donated by Grace.

The accused was given a 10kg maize seed bag by Mavhunga.

However, soon after receiving it, Hapazari threw the bag away.

Musoni then asked the accused why he had thrown away the seed while others needed it.

Hapazari then charged towards him, grabbed him by the neck and poked him with fingers.

Mavhunga tried to intervene, but Hapazari turned to him and warned him that “he was monitoring his movements”.

The matter was reported to the police, leading to the arrest of the accused. Rumbidzai Katsande represented the State.
