A POLICE officer was yesterday arrested in Harare’s Kuwadzana Extension suburb after he allegedly inflated a fine for a motorist at a suspected bogus roadblock.
SILENCE CHARUMBIRA
The officer, only identified as Sergeant Kwashirai, reportedly stationed at the Police Protection Unit, was allegedly challenged by a motorist, who demanded that they go to the nearest police station for verification of the amount he had been charged, prompting him and another officer to flee.
Police spokesperson, Senior Assistant Commissioner Charity Charamba said: “Yes, there is an officer who has been arrested, but I have not yet received the details.”
Sources said Kwashirai was found with a fake retention book and $800 in cash.
