Chimuputi was remanded to March 3 out of custody by magistrate Tendai Mahwe and ordered to report once a week at Waterfalls Police Station.

The State, led by Sebastian Mutizirwa, presented that on January 3 at around 5pm, the victim, who is the complainant in the matter, proceeded to the shops with Chimuputi’s sister, identified as Mai Munashe, but along the way the latter diverted to her brother’s house.

After staying for just five minutes, the woman left the girl in the company of Chimuputi and her 10-year-old son who later went out leaving the two in the room.

Chimuputi is said to have told the teenager that he was the one who had asked his sister to bring her to his house after which he grabbed her hand and pushed her to the floor.

He then removed her clothes before forcibly having sexual intercourse with her.

According to the State papers, the two then stayed together for three days and later moved to Chimuputi’s mother’s home in Hopley Zone 6 where they stayed another three days.

The State alleges they later found their own accommodation and lived together as husband and wife for a further two weeks before Chimuputi accused her of cheating and subsequently chasing her from home.

The complainant then returned home to her grandmother who then made a report to the police and Chimuputi was arrested.
