At the concert, Magacha and Zamar popularly known as “Minister Zamar” in music circles took the opportunity to sample some songs off their forthcoming albums and they were well-received by the fans.

The Ridzabhosvo hitmaker, who performed after Tembalami had already electrified the atmosphere, did not disappoint as he managed to maintain the tempo that had been set.

Magacha’s yet-to-be released song Amai won the hearts of many as he went on to invite his mother onto the stage and put up a well-choreographed act alongside the celebrated musician, much to the delight of the crowd.

The highlight of the show was when Magacha and Mhere, in their separate performances, engaged some fans from the auditorium who also proved beyond doubt that they knew the lyrics of their favourite musicians’ songs as they took leading roles in singing.

Speaking to NewsDay on the side-lines of the concert, award-winning Mhere saluted the fans for coming in their numbers to the concert urging gospel musicians to unite the nation by preaching the gospel through song.

“We are happy with the overwhelming support we received from our fans today (Saturday) as we joined hands for one cause — preaching and spreading the word of God through music and bringing families together in a friendly environment,” Mhere said. “Unity is important among us musicians and we need to practise what we preach.”

Mhere’s sentiments were also echoed by Zamar who said: “With this show we proved and showed the world that as gospel musicians, we are not competitors, but we complement each other in doing God’s work.”

ZimPraise choral group founder Joseph Madziyire and local music promoter Barbra Chikosi, popularly known as Mama Red Rose in the showbiz scene were among guests at the concert.
