UPCOMING Afro-pop musician Nancy Mutize and her Tribe Force band have shelved plans to release her debut seven-track album and have instead, focused on releasing a single titled Dananai Zvakare.

Speaking to NewsDay Weekender, Mutize said she had reached the decision to shelve the planned release to revamp the project and give it new sparkle.
The 26-year-old Mutize said they would now review the songs on the album to see what they could add or remove.
“We have shelved the plans to release the album because we want to change some of the songs that were initially lined up to be released this month. Will be releasing a love-themed single, Dananai Zvakare, next month,” she said.
Although Mutize uses guitars, drums and a keyboard on her songs, the most dominant instrument is the nyungwe nyungwe mbira, which she plays with expertise.

“My music is Afro-pop and the most prominent instrument that I use is mbira because as a musician, I am inspired by the late mbira maestro Chiwoniso Maraire,” she said.
Besides Maraire, the Afro-pop musician said she was also inspired by the granddad of music, Oliver Mtukudzi, jazz sensation Dudu Manhenga and South Africa’s Freshly Ground.
In her budding career, Mutize has worked with some renowned, artistes among them Clare Nyakujara, Gary and Willom Tight, and the late Dumi Ngulube.
Mutize is currently studying music at Music Crossroads Academy Zimbabwe, a non-profit organisation using the power of music education, professional training, live performances and promotion of young talent to support the development of the music sector and cultural education.
