SENSATIONAL songbird Pauline Gundidza, who had taken a long sabbatical from music, has announced her return with a single titled Isu Takunda (We Have Conquered) featuring Fuzzy L and serves as a teaser to an album she is working on.

The track, produced by high riding producer Oskid Tapfuma, is a fusion of Afro-pop and traditional mbira music and Pauline demonstrates her musical ability, as she plays the ancient instrument that has defied the test of time.

She has experienced a life of mixed fortunes and at one time appeared as if she had hit rock bottom, but the new song confirms how she has defied the odds.

“Isu Takunda is about the journey of life, the battles that we face and the means by which we conquer whatever comes our way. We must believe that we can conquer everything and we wrote the lyrics of the song from our personal experiences,” Pauline told NewsDay.

“Isu Takunda is part of an album I am working on. It will be released later this year. Fans should expect new sounds from me.”

Pauline broke into the music industry during the urban grooves era, where she collaborated with many artistes such as Roki and Tererai. She had a tumultuous affair and brief marriage to Roki, and the couple sired two children, before parting ways.

The pair, who were the urban grooves poster-couple in the founding days of the music genre, married in 2004 after meeting a few years prior when Pauline was just 17 years old.

Their first child, Skye, was born in 2005, a year before their divorce. They reunited in 2009 and a second child, Minana, was born, before they went their separate ways again.
