A HARARE man, Max Bimbi, yesterday stunned the gallery when he made a mockery of his wife by telling a Civil Court magistrate that his (Bimbi) wife was lazy and filthy.

Bimbi made the remarks in his response to an application for a protection order filed by his wife Felistas Chiyanike, who had accused him of being abusive.
“He says he can beat or treat me anyhow because he paid a bride price for me and he, therefore, owns me. He is now also in the habit of beating up the children every day,” Chiyanike said.
In his response, Bimbi denied beating his wife, saying the only problem was that she was not a tidy person.
“She is a dirty wife, who cannot even do my laundry, let alone bath our children,” he said.

Bimbi further told the court that he recently got involved in a mining business which keeps him away from home for up to three days, adding he always dreaded going back home.
“When I get home, I find the children dirty and I sometimes bath them myself before I prepare super. I always get home to find a dirty house,” he said.
Chiyanike, however, defended her behaviour, saying Bimbi was the one who was barring her from her wifely responsibilities.
“He is the one who said I should not cook for him or do his laundry, so I complied. As for the children, he just does not want them to play,” Chiyanike said.
In the end, presiding magistrate Trevor Nyatsanza granted the order in Chiyanike’s favour
