A FORMER top-aide to MDC-T leader, Morgan Tsvangirai will launch his Zimbabwe First (ZimFirst) party at the end of this month, NewsDay has learnt.

United States-based Maxwell Zeb Shumba will on July 29 officially present his party to Zimbabweans, as the build-up towards the general elections in 2018 begins in earnest.
Shumba, in a poster seen by NewsDay did not, however, say who the speakers at the launch will be.
ZimFirst is presenting itself as a “breath of fresh air, fresh legs and fresh ideas”.
Shumba has had run-ins with former Vice-President Joice Mujuru’s Zimbabwe People First (ZimPF) over accusations the former Zanu PF number two stole his party’s name and ideas.

Shumba’s party was formed in April this year, with the former MDC-T chief strategist saying the new political outfit came after it became apparent that the expectations from the concept of the national convergence were grossly misaligned among the key participants.
A former MDC-T USA chairperson, Shumba said the ZimFirst idea had been welcomed by people from all walks of life. He said other political parties in the country had failed to inspire a better future and, hence, they were encouraged to transform into a full-fledged political party.
