Tinashe Adolf Nyandoro (25) was not asked to plead to fraud charges last Thursday when he appeared before Bulawayo magistrate, Evelyn Mashavakure, who granted him $100 bail and remanded the matter to September 14.

The State alleges that between April 1 and August 12, 2016, Nyandoro violated the trust bestowed on him to run the canteen on behalf of the police and deposit the money into the force’s bank account.

The court heard that his duties included ordering stock, conducting periodic stock checks, receipting of daily sales, banking of cash and holding trust cash.

During the period in question, Nyandoro allegedly converted $1 488,53 to his own use.
