Mugari, who last year formed his own ensemble The Uncrackables, and continued on a Dendera trajectory, has been faring well with promoters competing for his signature.

Today’s celebrations will see local artistes such as Tendai Dembo, Tendai Chimombe and Talking Guitars performing in solidarity with Mugari.

Mugari yesterday said despite the hardships being experienced in the music industry, he will soldier on to reach the top.

“It has been a journey worth the celebrating. It is not all rosy, but I am determined that one day I will get to the top,” he said.

“I can say we are thanking God for everything and every artistes, who has helped us by giving us a platform at their shows, not forgetting the promoters too. It is because of such support that we have grown to where we are today.”

The 28-year-old musician, who also had a stint with Sulumani Chimbetu, recently released his debut album, Discovered, laden with rich dendera tracks.

During live shows, Mugari also plays renditions by the late Simon and Naison Chimbetu. His music career began in 2009 when he joined Marxist Brothers under the leadership of Tryson. He then joined Sulu’s Dendera Kings in 2011, doubling as a vocalist and dancer before re-joining Marxist Brothers the following year as a manager. He resigned in 2013 before going solo.

The Uncrackables is made up of Mugari brothers Tatenda, Peter, Forbes and Gardiner alongside Kudakwashe Maripita, Shame Musase, Musaope Nkoma and Tendai Zaranyika.
