The movement’s leader, Mehluli Moyo, said the event was meant as a “practice of what Umdala taught”.

“It is a get-together for young people under the banner of the Joshua Nkomo Youth Movement. We believe that it is not enough to celebrate him (Joshua Nkomo) without practising what he taught and his values,” he said.

Moyo said, on the day, the movement will have dialogue and talk about ways young people can practice the late nationalist’s teachings and values.

“There will be a lot of entertainment from various arts groups from Bulawayo. We have invited young people from various groups and groupings in Bulawayo. These are political, church and civil society groups. However, we have ensured that political parties will not be given an opportunity to speak at the event. We want to guard against political party bickering at the event,” he said.
