A passerby discovered the decomposing body of the deceased before making a police report.

Midlands acting provincial police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Ethel Mukwende confirmed the incident yesterday.

“I can confirm that we are investigating a case of sudden death by hanging which occurred on June 13 at Fisher Farm close to Mkoba 18 suburb in Gweru, where Matimana John Muponde was found hanging from a tree by a passerby,” she said.

She said Muponde’s body was taken to Gweru Provincial Hospital for a post mortem.
