Carlos Tinashe Chapeyama (25) was advised of his new remand date when he appeared before Bulawayo magistrate, Franklin Mkhwananzi on Tuesday.

He has not yet been asked to plead.

Allegations are that on February 1, Chapeyama visited his in-laws’ home in New Magwegwe in Bulawayo where his wife Ashley Phiri stayed with her siblings Rita Nkomo and Nkosivumile Ncube.

Chapeyama, who was armed with an AK-47 assault rifle loaded with 20 rounds of ammunition, allegedly shot the trio at point blank, killing them instantly.

He allegedly later turned the rifle at his one-and-a half-year old child, Tlou Chapeyama, fracturing her right leg before shooting and injuring himself with the same rifle in a suspected suicide attempt.

Both Chapeyama and his daughter were taken to Mpilo Central Hospital for treatment.
