James Ngorima was not formally charged when he appeared before magistrate Honest Musiiwa, who remanded him in custody pending trial.

The State alleges that on April 1 this year, Ngorima and his now-deceased, wife Lucia Sumaili had a heated domestic dispute before the latter fled to her parents’ rural home in Nduna village under Chief Madzivire, Chivi district.

Ngorima allegedly armed himself with a pistol and pursued her. When he arrived, his in-laws tried to help the couple reach common ground, but the accused could have none of that.

He allegedly shot his wife once on the forehead and above the right eye, killing her instantly. A police report was made, leading to Ngorima’s arrest.
