TWO Mvurwi men are in trouble for allegedly stealing a beast, slaughtering it and then disappearing with the meat.

Givemore Kwaramba (32) of Viyne compound, Mvurwi and Butwell Chinzonzi (25) of Galloway Farm, Mvurwi, pleaded not guilty to a charge of stocktheft before magistrate Artwell Sanyatwe yesterday and were remanded in custody to September 19.

Prosecutor Spiwe Makarichi alleged that on April 23, the complainant Simbarashe Rengemani (23) of Plot 6 Galloway Farm, Mvurwi, discovered that his pen had been tampered with and realised that one black steer had been slaughtered inside the pen and the suspects left a silver knife and the steer’s head behind.

Rengemani followed the visible footprints to Chinzodzi’s homestead, before filing a police report.

When the police conducted investigations they discovered that the duo were selling beef, leading to their arrest.
