Former Health and Child Care minister Obadiah Moyo, who is being accused of criminal abuse of office after he allegedly approved a tender worth over US$60 million without following due process, has filed a notice to apply for removal from remand.
Moyo, who was fired by President Emmerson Mnangagwa last year after the scandal was exposed, appeared before magistrate Stanford Mambanje.
The State had applied for the matter to be further remanded to allow for further investigations .
But Moyo argued that he would seek removal from remand if the State failed to provide a trial date on his next remand appearance on April 29.
According to court papers, Moyo allegedly influenced the awarding of a US$60 million tender to Drax International local representative Delish Nguwaya.

Drax International is reportedly headquartered in the United Arab Emirates.
The tender, for supplying personal protective equipment and COVID-19 drugs, was concluded without the approval of the Procurement Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe.
After Moyo allegedly influenced the awarding of the tender to Drax International, the firm reportedly sold COVID-19 drugs and personal protective equipment to the government at inflated prices.
