The Easipark furore resurfaced at this week’s full council meeting at Town House in Harare.
The meeting turned stormy after city fathers accused town clerk Tendai Mahachi and mayor Muchadeyi Masunda of failing to furnish them with details of the deal.
Councillors were demanding that there be a change of the management, logo and face of Easihold, the company that owns Easipark, as was recommended by council’s business committee.
Committee chairperson Wellington Chikombo had recommended that Easipark be administered by a board of directors to be appointed after the signing of a shareholders’ agreement by May 30.
Councillor Peter Moyo said: “We want to understand what is happening at Easipark.
“We want a board like yesterday and if it means we will have it foolishly, so be it. As major shareholders we must run the show.

“As a council we are showing that we are confused and that is why Upfumi Kuvadiki is taking advantage of our confusion.” Upfumi Kuvadiki is a pro-Zanu PF outfit that last month attempted to take over management of the city’s parking business, under the guise of indigenisation.
Masunda tried to “school” Chikombo on the legal implications of changing the agreement with Easihold, but the latter refused to listen.
“I don’t understand where I am supposed to be schooled,” Chikombo said.
“In as much as I want you to school me, your worship, there is a stumbling block.
“Where is the legal prejudice in this matter and I don’t know where I am supposed to be schooled?”
