Nationalist Edgar Tekere was on Thursday declared a national hero. Zanu PF’s decision to bestow him with the status is said to have been unanimous.
Tekere’s family is expected to announce its position on whether the icon should be buried at the Heroes Acre.
A former Zanu PF secretary-general, Tekere died at Murambi Garden Clinic in Mutare around 1:30pm on Tuesday, after a long battle with cancer.
He was 74.
