A Bulawayo man allegedly killed his companion with a kitchen knife following a beerhall brawl last month.

Arthur Prince Zulu (22) of Nguboyenja was not formally charged with murder when he briefly appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Ndumo Masuku on Tuesday.

He was remanded in custody to July 26. Prosecutor Admire Chikwayi told the court that on June 11, at around 6.30pm, the now deceased Brian Chinanga (28) was drinking beer with friends at Happy Valley Tavern in Nguboyenja.

Zulu arrived in the bar and went to where Chinanga was seated with his drinking partners and requested for a sip of beer.

Chinanga allegedly advised him to buy some beer first and bring it to where they were seated as a condition for him to join the party.

Zulu allegedly got angry and exchanged harsh words with Chinanga.
