Munyaradzi Kereke, the chief adviser at the Central Bank, was yesterday named the tobacco grower of the year by the country’s largest tobacco auction floor, Tobacco Sales Floor (TSF).

Last year, he scooped second prize. Among other prizes, Kereke walked away with a tractor, chemical sprayer and several agricultural inputs.

“I am very humbled by this achievement at the same time tearful in my soul, knowing that some people had to die for fellow Zimbabweans like myself to be rightfully back on the land.,” Kereke said. “Our government should vigorously support farmers without any reservations.” He grows tobacco at Pamene Farm, Mashonaland West.
