At least 1 500 individuals in the Muda area in Chihota are expected to benefit from a three-day medical outreach programme organised by a local pentecostal church.
The Waterfalls-based Immanuel Chapel Ministries has gathered medical professionals from various fields to offer their expertise by reaching out to this community with free medical consultation. The team will also dole out medication.
The programme which rolls out from Thursday this week follows two similar programmes which were conducted under the Hand of Hope Medical Outreach which falls under the Joyce Meyer Ministries.
“In June 2010, the church was invited to participate in the Hand of Hope Medical Outreach in Tsholotsho and two Bulawayo suburbs. This year we were invited again to carry out the same work, but this time in Esibomvu which is about 60km from Bulawayo,” said pastor of the church Bishop Emmanuel Bawa.
Bishop Bawa said one of their missions was to meet the humanitarian needs of communities.
“We see the need in the area of public health in the majority of rural areas where God has called us,” he said.

At least six general practioners, one gynaecologist, two dentists, three physiotherapists, two pharmacists and several nurses have confirmed their participation.
